Gedanken/Thoughts

Back from a Long Hiatus

Yay! My website is back up, after a long, long hiatus. Thank you, Lady DinoBug, for all your help!

So... today is the last day before classes start. I need to enjoy every minute of it. :P

I want to make a new layout, but at the moment I have no time. That'll need to wait until Christmas Break... maybe even the summer.

Last, but not least: I miss Germany! ;_; I can't wait to go back there again...

Preparing for Berlin

I had a pretty... interesting experience on Sunday. I was in a car accident, but no one in either of the cars was hurt, thank God. I am incredibly thankful that nothing happened to me or anyone. I'm so glad that neither of the cars was fast. Thank God everyone is safe.

Onto a different topic: I have less than a week left until I go to Berlin--it's amazing how time flies. It seems just like yesterday that I took my last exam in the fall semester. My (longer than usual) winter break is almost over, and I am about to go to Germany and stay there for five months. That's a long time! Well, for me it is. I'm just not used to staying abroad for so long. The longest I've ever stayed abroad was about 47 days (7 days of vacation in Austria, and 40 days of studying in Germany). Well, I started packing, but I'm still not done.

I've been generally optimistic about my expectations of my study abroad experience in Berlin. However, as the day of the trip got nearer, I became more nervous, and more uncertain about what to expect. I don't think it's because I'm studying abroad, but because of the five months that I'm going to spend there. Well, actually, it does have to do with studying too. :P This will be the first time that I'll study in the same classes as German students. I'll be pretty much on my own, but hey, this is what I wanted. After all, I wanted to study in Germany for a reason.

Speaking of studying abroad, I bought a German-English/English-German dictionary today. About time! I should have bought this long ago, especially since I'm a German major. :P But I managed without it all this time because I used German dictionaries only (mainly the LEO one). Since I most likely won't have internet in my room, I'm sure there will be times when I'll need a dictionary in book form. So, that's why I bought it now, but I'm sure it'll help me out later on. The dictionary I bought is one of the best, if not the best, out there: the (Concise) Oxford Duden Dictionary. I'm so glad I bought it! :D

I'm leaving on Saturday, February 28th, and I'll arrive on Sunday, March 1st.

Onto another topic: I've been watching Sailor Moon a lot lately--not the English dub, but the German one. It all started with me thinking of things that I could watch in German, that I could actually enjoy, to improve my German. Somehow I remembered that I saw episodes of Sailor Moon in German on YouTube long ago, so I looked them up, and sure enough, I found them. I figured that I could hit two birds with one stone because I'll be watching something that I really like, and, at the same time, improve my German while I'm watching it. Not only is it helping me getting my ear used to spoken German, but I'm also learning words and expressions through it as well. I've been doing this for quite a while now. In fact, I'm on episode 94 now. It makes me so happy to watch it. I mean, I used to watch this back in 2000/2001, so it brings up all my memories from that time too. What a great anime... I'm so glad I'm watching it now.
