Onegai Teacher!

Well, I finished it yesterday, but since it was rather late, I decided to write the entry today. In any case, I was pleased overall with the series. It's cute, and it has a nice story.

Art:
Nothing to complain about. I thought it was well-done and very nice looking.

Story & Plot:
As I said earlier, the story is "nice". By that, I mean that it makes sense, it's without plot holes, it's somewhat believable (if you ignore the supernatural factors :P), etc. In addition, I thought the anime posed some interesting questions about life, how we view it, how we interact with people, etc.

Characters:
They were well-developed. You could clearly see that each character had his/her own background, and, more importantly, had depth. The characters were certainly not wooden. You could even find yourself identifying with some of the characters.

Humor:
The anime is VERY funny. Sure, some episodes are mostly serious, others are more funny than serious, but overall, there's a big comic effect in this anime.

As with any series, book, video game, etc. that I finish, I became sad after I finished this one. :P But, I'm glad I did.

Beautiful Weather

Tuesday 27 March 2007

Written at 10:06 PM

Finally! A break from the coldness which has reigned the world. :P Well, actually, it was getting progressively warmer. However, last Thursday was the first time that it got warm (so much that I didn't need a coat). The same happened today. The weather was just so beautiful. The sun was shining, and it wasn't too hot.

Ok, normally I wouldn't talk about the weather so much, but I felt I had to do it now because it had an impect on my mood. I feel "better" in such a weather.

On a random note, I've been watching Onegai Sensei! (Please Teacher!) lately. I have to say, it's been a while since I watched anime so regularly like that, so it was refreshing to get into anime again. In any case, I'm almost done with the series; I only have two episodes left. So far, I really like it. I mean the story is a little strange (but then again, how many animes have "normal" stories? :P), but it's bearable. Actually, I found the anime to be cute, even though it's a little ecchi. Luckily, it's not too ecchi. The "ecchi-ness" in it is bearable. (For those of you who don't know what "ecch" means, I believe it literally means "pervert" in Japanese. In anime terminology, it has come to mean "presence of softcore sexual instanced". Unlike "ecchi", "hentai" is pretty much... anime "porn")

I'll write more on Onegai Sensei! once I'm done with it.

Turkish Occasion

Monday 26 March 2007

Written at 5:21 PM

Yesterday the residents of the Middle East Coexistence House and I went to a professor's (who's also the vice director of the Middle Eastern studies department at my university) home for a "Turkish Reunion". But, a note of explanation:

I was not a resident of the Middle East Coexistence House until this semester. Those who were residents since the beginning of the year went on a trip to Turkey during winter break. With them, they had professors, and some Turkish students from the university.

Yesterday, they decided to have a reunion of everyone who went to Turkey at one of the professors' house. Even though I didn't go to Turkey, I was still invited, so I went.

The professor's house was practically a museum of Middle Eastern objects. The professor and his wife went to so many Middle Eastern countries and lived there for quite a while. They just love Middle Eastern culture. In addition, they put Middle Eastern music in the background, and cooked food from all over the Middle East (but mainly Turkish food).

Everything was fine and well. We were all having a good time... until I started having breathing problems. >_< I still have no idea what happened, but something made me have problems with breathing. I started coughing a lot too, and all the while, it was getting harder for me to breathe.

Anyway, I just tried to act natural, even if people were noticing that I was coughing a lot, and they could see that I was just not feeling well. Then we went upstairs to watch a presentation which one of the people on the trip made. Before we watched it, the man who made the presentation gave us some gifts, as did another man who went on the trip. Since the room in which we were was small, we all had to sit close to each other. Then, of course, the people right next to me clearly heard my wheezing.

Eventually, after the movie, we ate some Middle Eastern desserts, and we all went home/to our dorms/etc. My condition didn't get better until I got to my room and used the inhaler. Gradually I was feeling better. Though the illness, or whatever it was, didn't go away completely, I still felt better. Some people told me that it could have been an allergic reaction to something I ate, or asthma, or just some reaction because the weather changed so quickly.

Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun yesterday. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the gathering, and everyone was nice and friendly.

On a different note, I was at home most of the weekend since my sister, who's usually in Texas, is now in New Jersey. My other sister also came home for this occasion. It was nice for all of us to get together again.

All my updates are overdue!

I don't like this semester. It always gets on my nerves, and it just makes me über-worried. Bloody hell...

Anyway, I apologize to everyone for disappearing, and in some cases, not replying to something that you wrote me or sent me. I would definitely like to apologize to Angela for both of the aforementioned things. I just want you to know that I'm not ignoring you. Thank you for your understanding thus far.

To everyone who's still in school, let me tell you this: Enjoy your time at school! Enjoy it while it lasts!

And I still didn't write a poem, and didn't put up my new layout because of a certain problem that I can't solve.

Oh, by the way, last week was spring break. How quickly did it pass... Now I'm back to all the pain and suffering. Hooray!

Random note: For those who want to laugh/something to think about/etc., check out this video: Fomenko What is going on the world today? :P

(Sebastian, thank you for telling me about Fomenko. You made my day. :D)

An update long overdue

Thursday 11 January 2007

It has been so long... I don't even know where to start. -_-

Well, let's see. Friday, the 22nd of December was the final day of the 1st semester. After that, I was on winter break. Unfortunately, my break is about to end this Sunday. ;_;

There was not much that was exciting about the break. I pretty much did what I could not do while I was going to college, and that was relaxing excessively and doing what I like to do.

On New Year's Eve I went out with my sister and her friends to a nice party, and we watched Back to the Future. This is the first time that I actually see the entirety of the movie (which may be shocking to some of you. Oh well :P). This Tuesday I saw some of my high school friends, Leslie and Jilian, and we watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest at Jilian's house.

Lately I've been working on the new layout for the website. I hope I finish it before Sunday. >_<

That's my winter break in a nutshell. How quickly it passed by... ;_;
